Lucie Loves... Fashion // A street style-esq shoot aboard Quantum of the Sea ft. AW14 pieces from REISS and Lily Kamper
I’m in the process of gathering all my notes, photos, thoughts and footage from our 2-night stay aboard the rather luxurious new offering from Royal Caribbean: Quantum of the Seas.
Before I even stepped foot on the ship, I knew it would make an exquisite backdrop for an outfit shoot or two. The sun was low and golden in the autumn sky, which added a certain softness to this all-black autumn/winter look.
JMG & I walked along the top deck of the ship, a Maker’s Mark whisky and coke in hand, taking in the Southampton coast line, marveling at the sea-views stretching out before us.
I had packed rather economically for this blog trip. However, with anything I wear, I like to add a dash of colour. In this case it was this rather decadent statement necklace from Young British Designer’s Lily Kamper that stole the show, paired with my gold Monica Vinader fiji bracelet, Cos asymmetric jersey dress and Topshop Magic tan boots (so nice, I think they’ve sold out!). The light shone brilliantly through the pale pink and jade glass of the art deco-esc palm step pendant and picked out the face-framing feather-like tufts on the Reiss Paloma faux fur collar coat.
I simply cannot stop wearing this coat.
I wear it to work, Sunday brunch, and nights out with friends: the wardrobe possibilities are endless. All ‘elegant and streamlined’ it makes me feel lady-like and grown up - but then again, I am 29 and should get used to that by now… It’s definitely the most fancy coat in my wardrobe at the moment. It’s 80% wool and really keeps out the cold. When it starts to rain I turn the collar up towards my ears to keep me extra snug as I cycle through the gardens on my way home from work. (I seem to have a thing for wearing inappropriate cycling attire…)
The Paloma coat is actually a very dark ink blue colour with black faux fur collar. I didn’t realise this when I spied it online, and was pleasantly surprised when it arrived - the midnight blue looks less stark than a black version would. It looks great worn over shift dresses, a pair of tapered trousers or skinny jeans.
