Lucie Loves... Travel // Mud bath, massage and movie night at So Spa, Sentosa

Sentosa Island is an idyllic little place, perfect for escaping the heat and humidity of the bustling island city-state of Singapore.

I took a taxi from the New Majestic Hotel on Bukit Pasoh Road, a stone’s throw from the beating heart of China Town. Less than 15 minutes later I was in paradise AKA Singapore Sentosa Resort  & Spa, a 5-star haven, part of the Sofitel luxury hotel group

On arrival at So SPA (formerly known as Spa Botanica) I was treated to a cup of lemon & ginger tea. The atmosphere, as expected, was tranquil and incredibly relaxing. It was exactly where I wanted to be.

I was given a tour of the So Spa’s stunning grounds and introduced to the different facilities on offer, all promising to make me ‘feel re-awakened and re-energised’ with its array of ‘poetic and surprising’ spa treatments.

I’d packed my swimming costume and went to the changing rooms to put it on. Swaddled in a big white robe, I made my way out to the gardens to check out the mud pool and labyrinth.

The mud pool uses volcanic mud, which has a very high mineral content. It’s perfect for slathering on and energising the skin. I applied a generous amount all over my body and the set off around the labyrinth, to let the sun dry do its thing and dry the mud onto my skin, before washing it off under one of the outdoor rain showers.

This was completely and utterly the best ‘me-time’ I’d had in a while.

I then went and got ready for my spa treatment. I was booked in for the So Relaxing Massage, said to aid relaxation and help overcome physical and emotional tension. Perfect.

After my massage I got dressed again and headed back outside to take my seat (a spot on a very comfy sun lounger) ready to watch a movie by the pool.

The film was Singing in the Rain. A classic, which I’m ashamed to say that I’d never seen before! It was wonderful.

I sat back, drank glasses of wine, ate popcorn and devoured pretty little tapas morsels while laughing and singing along. It was brilliant fun.

I’d definitely recommend a visit to So SPA and the Movie by the Pool experience. They are great for both residents needing for a bit of pampering and an escape from the heat and humidity. Or people on just visiting for a short holiday, and looking something different to do while in Singapore.
