Lucie Loves... Fashion // #Vogue100 ~ A century of style exhibition at National Portrait Gallery

Since I can remember – probably from when I started to visit a proper hairdresser* – I’ve poured over photos in fashion magazines. British Vogue in particular. Although, I only actually subscribed to Vogue or ELLE magazine a few years ago, obviously a big adult milestone in my life.

So when I was invited by the National Portrait Gallery to attend a blogger and press preview of their newest exhibition: Vogue 100 ~ A Century of Style, I got very excited!

Curated by British Vogue’s Contributing Editor, Robin Muir, the exhibition took over 6 years to pull together, as they leafed, page by page, through thousands of back-copies of Vogue magazine, to shortlist the 300 or so incredible photographs on display.

Photographers featured include:

David Bailey, Cecil Beaton, Guy Bourdin, Arthur Elgort, Steve Hiett, Derek Jarman, Peter Knapp, Barry Lategan, Luciana Martinez, Sarah Moon, Helmut Newton, Norman Parkinson, Johnny Rozsa, Sacha, Snowdon, Tony Armstrong Jones, Horst, Baron Adolph de Meyer, Mert Alas & Marcus Pigott, Henry Bourne, Corinne Day, Nan Goldin, Nick Knight, Glen Luchford, Alasdair McLellan, Norbert Scherner, David Sims, Mario Testino, Tim Walker, Patrick Demarchelier, Peter Lindbergh, Craig McDean, Paolo Roversi, Javier Vallhonrat and many more.

The exhibition includes rarely seen photos from some of the the world’s most-heralded photographers. Think Corinne Day’s scantily clad Kate Moss and Horst’s corseted portrait of Lee Miller (which is perhaps one of my favourites in the exhibition!)

I couldn’t help but stop and snap a photo of this lady’s striking green outfit.

Don’t forget to check out the Vogue 100 shop while you’re there. There is tons to look at. I really wanted to buy one of the red trilby hats!
