LOVE AFTER LOVE – notes from the heart

“Has it changed you? What happened… Do you feel different? Sorry if that’s hard to answer.” He asked, as we sat in the dark, clutching one another, scared of what was to come next. 

I took a deep breath. 

“I guess it has. I’ve become hardened. Less innocent. A little wild. But I’m stronger than I’ve ever been. I’ve lived and I’ve loved.”

I guess it will just take me some time to learn to truly love again, to trust again. Not to be swept away by feelings, but to live in the moment. 

But, from now on, I’ll always be mine first, before anyone else’s.
