Lucie Loves... London //#Blogged | Our first time… @boroughmarket

A perfect Saturday afternoon was spent wandering around the famous sights and smells of Borough Market, SE1. It was a treat for both the tummy and the tastebuds.

I’ve been in London a year now, to the day. Happy London anniversary and work anniversary to me! JMG is still fairly new to the big smoke and we’d often discussed where we’d like to visit in London, when we moved back in together.

Borough Market was one of those places.

We arrived around 2pm amidst the hustle and bustle of friends, restaurant owners and families all there to experience Borough’s gastronomic delights. We’d eaten a couple of hours earlier and so we’re more than ready to grab some lunch. We opted for two wild boar sausages in freshly baked buns topped with onions and peppercorn sauce - they were delicious and cost around £5 each.

There’s a great selection of world foods at Borough, catering for both delicate gluten-free or vegan appetites to the more ‘I don’t care, I’m a carnivore’ types.

There’s fishmongers, meat, game and poultry specialists, Italian cheese merchants, Thai food stalls, Indian curries, organic olive oil sellers, an array of charcuterie, heavenly baked goods - breads, cakes and brownies - and independent tea stalls.

Borough Market is the kind of place we’d take visiting friends or Parents. It’s pretty special.

After walking around for an hour or so, we were pretty thirsty and decided to order a couple of coffee’s at the nearby Monmouth cafe. The queue for this place, as it often is at every Monmouth establishment, was out of the door! But it didn’t take long to place our order and grab a perch at the back whilst we shared one of their scrumptious chocolate brownies. Monmouth is one of our favourite places to grab a coffee in London.

Have you been to Borough Market? Or have you got another favourite London market that we should try? Please let us know.
