I hadn’t put an outfit post together for sometime. It’s been all ‘Christmas this and Christmas that’ on the blog and so I thought I’d dig out some of my favourite pieces and see how I could style them differently. (I’m trying to be thrifty.)

It feels like forever ago when this pair of crazy black Spike Dr Martens boots landed on my doorstep thanks to Charlie May. Yet, I’m ashamed to say, I’ve only worn them a handful of times.

To make up for it, I decided to make them the focal point of this look; playing up their toughness, adding a touch of animal print and my Red or Dead Elizabeth tights. This Sparkle & Fade bodycon midi dress from Urban Outfitters was a great pounds-per-wear purchase for me. I’ve worn it loads to the office and on nights out with friends. I’m a huge fan of the body con midi style.

This time round, I decided to layer a simple white shirt underneath it for a Sunday stroll around London. It's actually called The Perfect Shirt and is a bit of a bargain at £35.

I accessorised with a chunky studded necklace to tie in nicely with the boots, and topped it off with my classic camel boyfriend coat, all bought a few seasons ago from Next. My Nixon watch - The Kensington, from ASOS - a birthday gift from JMG, was just that additional touch of tan needed to finish off the look. Oh, and a slick of Christian Dior Diorific Dolce Vita red lipstick!

The bag I’m carrying is one of my favourites. It’s called the Prussia bag and it’s by a incredible designer called M. Hulot. I’ve had my bag now since 2012 and I’ve taken it everywhere with me; for coffee, on dates, out walking in the rain, to work, shopping, and on holiday.

Exposure to the elements seems only to add to the beauty of this bag, which is made in England using full grain Italian leather. Phwoar. Sometimes I wear it across my body using the long shoulder strap and sometimes I carry it by its sturdy handle. Either way it always receives an appreciative look from satchel fans and passers-by.

What item do you love but neglect to wear? I’m going to have a route around and see what else I can bring out of closet - so to speak.
